Notes

This style of figurine, usually rendering females, is found throughout Central and West Mexico. Female representations and mold-made slab figurines were prevalent for 1500 years in Mexico. The flattened headdress and hair creating a frame around the face are a convention seen throughout Central Mexico including at Teotihuacan and especially later in Aztec art of the Post-Classic period (1325-1521 CE).
